Pictured are 2 of our leavers from this year. Good luck to all who are starting big school. We will miss you!
Hello and welcome, our names are Lisa Neagle and Rowena Brimacombe and together we have 28 years experience in childcare. Both having a level 5 and above qualification, our experience starts from motherhood, running voluntary playgroups, helping at Rainbows and Brownies on a voluntary basis. Organising children's events, working as childcare providers in our own homes and now together running our own pre-school nursery. We have many qualifications, including NVQ3,Level 4, 5, Early Years Foundation degree, Child Protection, Paediatric First Aid, Food hygiene, Health and Safety, Highscope, Caf Awareness and Special Education Needs and Dissabilities training (SEND). We have been friends for over 16 years and have worked together as childcare providers for 10 years. We take pride in our work and aim together to help children lay the foundations for their future.
Our aim!! See our staff page for training updates.
We aim to run a fantastic pre-school. One aim we want to achieve is to have every member of staff trained to the highest level possible in all areas. All staff will undertake a Safeguarding qualification and a SEND (Special Educational Needs and Dissablilites) qualification. All of our staff will become First Aiders, trained in Makaton, food hygiene, Safeguarding and SEND. Our staff will always attend regular training and updates. We don't just want a Safeguarding Officer, we want everybody trained to understand what Safeguarding means. The same with SEND. We don't just want a SEND Co-ordinator, we want everybody trained to understand SEND. We want everybody trained in First Aid. This way we hope that this will be one area covered to creating a great pre-school.
Our Ethos - Learning Through Play
Learning through play helps children to discover their unique qualities and characteristics. In our safe, friendly and fun environment all children can expand their curiosity and imagination. Through the seven areas of learning they can expand their knowledge and understanding or our world. Learning is a continuous journey which children build on all the things that they have already experienced. At the Strawberry Hill Pre-School the children will come across new and interesting challenges which will help lay their foundations for their own unique future. See some of our photos at the bottom of this page.
Working With Parents
Parents are important. They are the most important people in their child's life. At our pre-school we aim to work in partnership with parents to meet the needs of the children. All children and adults are treated with equal concern and will be made to feel very welcome. Wherever possible we will try to meet the parent's requests for the care of their children according to their values, practices, preferences and attitudes. Family customs and beliefs about dietary requirements, dress code, hair and skin care, help required with toilet and washing are respected. We aim to regulary share information with parents about daily routines of their children on a regular basis. Regular reviews will take place to discuss their child's care and education plus any concerns or issues. We aim to have an open door policy and welcome any comments or suggestions that you may have.
